Some call her courageous, some say she is a tzaddekes, but her essence was most succinctly expressed by the late Mrs. Zahava Braunstein, a’h, “In her humble way,” Mrs. Braunstein said, “Chaya Malka Abramson is a giant.” She began her career in fashion design as Michelle Smith in Connecticut, but her true calling in life emerged when she arose- as Chaya Malka -from the ashes of a devastating fire in the Old City of Jerusalem. When Chaya Malka ran in to her flaming apartment to save her children and grandmother, she suffered burns over 85 percent of her body, and against all odds, lives to tell you her story. In the latest reprint of her best selling book, Who by Fire (with Esther Tscholkowsky, Feldheim), and now on her upcoming US speaking tour December, 2010,Chaya Malka continues to inspire us.
Mrs. Abramson has presented her talks on several continents to women of all ages; in intimate homes, synagogues and schools, and to an audience of thousands. Hers is not just a story of tragedy and recovery, but a potent message to all. She speaks from the heart to the heart, keeps her audience spellbound and all who hear her inspirational message leave transformed. Testimonials: “From the feedback we received, it was evident that your talk was a substantial source of inspiration…many shared their experience with family and friends, thus enabling many more to benefit from your extraordinary presentation.” Rabbi Mordechai Suchard, Director, Gateways “We have been organizing Shiurim for over twelve years, and I can honestly say the lecture you gave was one of the most inspiring.” Ettie Rosenbaum, Director Women’s Institute of Torah, Baltimore “Your gracious delivery and humble spirit in describing your own heroic life infused us with the strength of your own mesiras nefesh and your ability to meet on with life’s difficult challenges with loving kindness.” Rebbetzin Ruthy Assaf, Principal Manhattan High School for Girls. “Judging by their rapt attention, the audience enjoyed your talk very much. You gave inspiration and chizuk to the entire community.” Rabbi Moshe LaBrie Young Israel of Huntington “Hearing her story made us realize how trivial our daily troubles are.
