Many accidents and terrorist attacks on the innocent public unfortunately leave injured people in their wake. The story of my survival after suffering life-threatening burns, inspired me to co-author the book, Who by Fire and establish the Chaya Malka Burn Foundation. Our purpose is to benefit burn patients and their families in both the initial, critical period and afterwards throughout their recovery. As I travel and speak to groups about my experience, I find that I am able to give much hope and support not only to those who have been burned but also to others who are suffering. Many are encouraged and inspired to hear that I was able to rebuild my life, have more children, resume caring for my family and home, and even pursue my artistic interests, despite my injuries. My experience and recovery gives strength and encouragement to the audience and helps those who have been burned transform a deeply painful challenge into gratitude for the opportunities that lie ahead. Two goals of CMBF for 2010 are produce a CD with burn prevention and first aid information; and to establish the first Trauma Therapy Burn Support Group in Israel, for burn patients who are no longer in crisis, but who still suffer emotional scars from their trauma. With your generous help, these goals will become a reality and many more patients will receive healing and comfort. Please make your tax deductible contributions to: Chaya Malka Burn Foundation, Inc. |
