Chaya Malka Abramson shares the fire in her soul PDF Print E-mail

Some call her courageous, some say she is a tzaddekes, but her essence was most succinctly expressed by the late Mrs. Zahava Braunstein, a’h,  “In her humble way,” Mrs. Braunstein said, “Chaya Malka Abramson is a giant.”   She began her career in fashion design as Michelle Smith in Connecticut, but her true calling in life emerged when she arose- as Chaya Malka -from the ashes of a devastating fire in the Old City of Jerusalem.   When Chaya Malka ran in to her flaming apartment to save her children and grandmother, she suffered burns over 85 percent of her body, and against all odds, lives to tell you her story.  In the latest reprint of her best selling book, Who by Fire (with Esther Tscholkowsky, Feldheim), and now on her upcoming US speaking tour December, 2010,Chaya Malka continues to inspire us.

God is good and everything he gives us is good.

I remember standing with my husband near the elevators on the seventh floor of the hospital. We had just heard the doctor’s diagnosis. I leaned against the wall, staring out the window at the hills of the city. Exhausted and confused, I kept wondering, where do we go from here?
